Austen has been involved in competitive strength and conditioning since 2002. Through high school his main focus was in power lifting and track then in 2007 he began focusing on high intensity training. In early 2011 Austen discovered CrossFit, while deployed in Afghanistan, and has never looked back! He shared, “It was the best way for me to stay in-shape during the short breaks I had between Security and Patrols. Being highly active through the day while carrying a full combat load, there was nothing that made the stress easier than the fully functional training I did with CrossFit.” Upon his return from deployment, he immediately signed up for the CrossFit level 1 course. Austen comments that his goal became getting stronger while maintaining speed, and getting faster while maintaining strength.
Austen constantly seeks out new education and information by attending seminars and completed his CrossFit Level 2 Certification in the Spring of 2014. “Coaching others in the lifestyle of CrossFit and helping others get started with strength and conditioning is what I am here for and will remain to do my best to teach, inspire, and motivate everyone I can.” He has a heart for helping others and gets great satisfaction in helping his athletes scale their movements to find a starting point and then continue to grow and challenge themselves bit by bit. “What I love about CrossFit is its ability to change a person’s life while involving them in a healthy and supportive community. I am more excited when one of my athletes achieves a PR, than when I do. There is just something about believing in someone more than they do and then seeing them realize their own potential. I also love helping people make lifestyle changes that affect their spouse and kids. I feel like I have just helped save a family.”

Ely has been actively involved with CrossFit for 3 years now and has become proficient at gymnastics. His love for CrossFit motivated him to find opportunities volunteering his time with the local high school cheerleaders providing personal skills training as well as off and on training with the wrestling team. Ely is also an experienced lifeguard and taught swim lessons to children between ages 5 and 12.
Ely experiences great joy to see his kids progress in their skills and become proficient each lesson. He shared, “What I love about Crossfit is that it shined a light on all the possibilities and potential in this world, so I know I can do whatever I put my mind to and it’s even better when I see others come to the same realization.” Ely will be instrumental in spearheading our CrossFit Kids program, utilizing a sound curriculum with Lil Beasts and Future Beasts.
