Congratulations!

The fact that you have found us means you are curious about one of the fastest growing fitness movements on Earth.

It doesn’t matter what brought you here: a devoted friend’s persistence, a coach or doctor’s recommendation, or maybe inspiration from the latest Reebok commercial…regardless, welcome to Streamline CrossFit!

One of the things that makes CrossFit so unique is our community of people from literally every walk of life: stay-at-home parents, elite athletes, students, CEOs, members of the armed services, firefighters, you name it. CrossFit bodies – our bodies – come in every imaginable size, shape and age; and yet, our workouts every day, are designed for anyone to do them.  The CrossFit program is designed to elicit as broad an adaptation response as possible, with the ability to scale any movement or exercise to any individual fitness needs; beginner to professional athlete.  This makes it possible for all of us – with our different body types, personal goals and levels of ability – to work alongside one another safely. We motivate one another, cheer one another on, and sometimes participate in some healthy competition. But, ultimately, every workout is yours alone. Your workout = your pace.

{p.s. We refer to workouts as WODs – “workouts of the day” – because, well, acronyms are fun!}

CrossFit programs train the body all over – with great emphasis on our core, the body’s powerhouse.  Why is ‘core strengthening’ such a big deal?  By working on the muscles that stabilize the spine and pelvis, which run the entire length of our torso, we create a solid base of support and when we do this, we are able to generate powerful movements.  We can also stand and move effectively, help reduce back pain or injury, improve overall athletic performance, and correct postural imbalances.  Check out the graphic below which describes CrossFit pictorially.

Constantly Varied

At Streamline CrossFit you (yes, you!) will jump rope, climb ropes, swing kettle bells and even play games. You will work at pull ups, muscle ups, hand stands, pushups, and hand-stand pushups. You will practice squats, dips, cleans, jerks, snatches and deadlifts as well as rowing, running and box jumps. Each day will bring different exercises always specifically designed to work on different muscle groups and/or cardiovascular strength.

Functional Movement

“Functional Movement” refers to maintaining the safest, most-efficient position to power through a movement. There are plenty of misconceptions out there about CrossFit; the truth is much of what we do in our workouts mirrors activities in our daily lives. To the uninitiated, flipping a tire looks like crazy, “he-man” work. But if you’ve ever had to move a mattress up a flight of stairs, you already know the movement. If you’ve ever lifted a heavy bag of dog food or peat moss, no one needs to tell you the importance of arching your back. Streamline CrossFit will help you maintain the correct position in a workout – both to keep you and others safe as well as to maximize efficiency.

High Intensity

You will never hear a CrossFitter say, “I had a great workout; I was in the gym for four hours!” You are much more likely to hear, “I finished in 8 minutes.” People come here skeptical that a high-intensity workout, done in a fraction of the time as they are used to, can lead to faster, better results. But results don’t lie.

The beauty of our sport is that we are all in it together, motivating one another. It’s a sport where the person last to finish the workout receives more high fives than the person first to finish.
